A BARQUE IN TROUBLE.
TRYING EXPERIENCES. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Sydney, April 4. The French barque Pierre Antonine has been towed in. She was dismasted while on the vovarv:- from Monte Vide.. to Newcastle in ballast. She was struck bv a hurricane on February 21 in the vicinity of Kerguelen Island and thrown on her beam ends. The ballast shifted and she heeled over till the starboard rail was six feet under water. She was helpless and heavy seas were breaking over her. The crew cut away the bulwarks and stays and the masts earried_ away. The vessel then commenced to right herself and after manv hours' anxious work shiftily the ballast, regained an upright position. A jurv-mast was rigged up and a course set for Sydney. The barque met, with favourable weather and was picked up bv a tug 35 miles out.
