MR. LLOYD GEORGE'S EVIDENCE. liy Cable—Press Association —Copyright. London, March 31. Mr. Lloyd George., before the Marcpni'.Committee, gave evidence that he -.bought his shares as an investment. Not having much cash, he avoided speculation In reply to the question, if it was an investment, why did he sell the bulk within three days, he said that he acted ou his broker's advice, and did not think the transaction was any the less an investment. Three male suffragists were ejected for interjecting remarks concerning the Chancellor of the Exchequer's treatment of' women. A DRAMATIC CHALLENGE. Llovd George dramatically challenged any memlier of the House of Cominons to formulate charges against him.' :It was cowardly and mean to skulk be- | 1 hiiul a newspaper and circulate slanders. ' He had always proceeded on the princi]s)e of not speculating. He regarded •investment as something permament for the sake of dividends. Speculation was 1 buying in order to sell. Having a family, lie had never done that. Cross-examined, he admitted that he had sold 857 out of the first thousand shares within three days at a profit of £749, and that lie had only paid the brokers one-third of the purchase money. The brokers had advanced the rest, and still hold the shares as security. Mr. Lloyd George offered his bank pass-book, and handed in a list of his investments. Mr. Samuel. Postmaster-General, in his evidence, stated that he had never held shares in any Marconi company.
