MR. PIERPONT MORGAN. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. London, March 31. The death lias taken place of Mr. Pierpont Morgan. New York, March 31. No excitement was caused in the markets by the news of, Mr. Morgan's death. Prices lost fractionally, but the "bears" did not make any attacks. The recent money stringency and the fall in prices of stock were responsible for the lack of interest. Members of the Money Trust Investigation Committee reject the suggestion that Mr. Morgsn's dtath was hastened by the result of their investigation, They point out that Mr. Morgan rather enjoyed the cross-examination at the hands of the committee. Mr. Join) Pierpont Morgan, the wellknown American millionaire, was born in 1837, at Hartford, Connecticut. In, 1891 he inherited a gigantic fortune from , his father. The two greatest commercial operations with which his name was associated were the Steel Trust and the Atlantic Shipping Company. The former, which came into existence in 1001, had a capital of 1,432,000,000 dollars. Mr. Morgan was an enthusiastic art collector, and his gallery contained Gainsborough's "Duchess of Devonshire," Raphael's "Madonna of St. Anthony of Padua," and other masterpieces.
