A RECORD FROZEN MEAT SHIPMENT. By Telegraph—Press Association. Gisborne, March 27. The Shaw, Savill and Albion Co.'s steamer Waimana lifted 50,000 carcases of frozen mutton —a record shipment for the port. APPLICATIONS TO "UNCLE." Wellington, Thursday. A STEAMER DISABLED. Auckland, Thursday. The steamer Barenfels on her voyage from Sydney to .Auckland had the web of her intermediate crank shaft fractured. The accident occurred on Saturday morning. The engineers effected temporary repairs which are described as a very fine piece of work. The steamer came on here under easy steam and arrived this morning. She will be delayed about a week.

Joseph Tavlor. nuning engineer, of Nelson, submitted to the Premier today plans of a new type of combination airship, which he has invented and patcned. He asked for a Vim eminent grant to carry out the initial work of construction of one airship. "Combination and Concentration" was the subject selected by Mr. Hurrell. of Wellington. Ho said it had often struck him that an awful waste of capital and labor was daily taking place in the trade, owing to' the lack of combination. Instead of a hundred scattered factories if they had a wholesale factory where natural gas. i oil or water power was available, the cost of, production would be enormously reduced.
