THE PRIME MINISTER.

TO VISIT TARANAKI.

Tiie Prime Minister will be in New Plymouth on Friday, April 4, accompanied by the Hon. Mr. Fraser. The following is the proposed itinerary:— Ipve Wellington on Tuesday, April 1, proceed as far as Eltham, where a stop will be made and the country in the district to the east, including the baek- : blocks, inspected; on Wednesdav, proceed to Stratford, where the Ministers will be entertained at a banquet by the Borough and County Councils and the Chamber of Commerce; leave on Thursday morning for Opunake, via Manaia; on Friday, leave Opunake for Rahotu: and Okato, reaching New Plymouth in the afternoon; proceed to Hawera on Saturday evening, and on Sunday motor over the country adjoining, leaving on Monday for Wanganui. Mr. H. J. Okey, M.P., who has been in touch with Mr. Massey, will meet the Ministers at Eltham on Thursday and go through to Opunake, Rahotu and Okato with them. The following arrangements for that portion of the visit have been made:—Leave Opunake at 8.30 o'clock on Friday, April 4. for Eahotu, going up the Kahui Road, opposite the hotel, to see the back country; arrive back at Rahotu at 9.30, receive deputations regarding West Coast leases and coast railway; leave Rahotu at 11 o'clock, and go lip the Warea Road to view the country, arriving at Okato for lunch at 12.30, receive deputations on different matters; leave Okato at 2 o'clock, and arrive at the oil works at Moturoa at 3 o'clock; visit the harbor and Kawaroa Park before dinner; at 7.30 receive deputations on public matters and give interviews to several persons on private affairs.

On .Saturday morning the party will visit Waitara, Urenui and Inglewood, arriving at the Mountain House for lunch at 1 o'clock.

While the Ministers are in the district they will be deputationised by the. Railway League. Telegraphed advice as follows has been sent to Mr. Massey:— "The New Plymouth Borough Council Taranaki Comity Council and the Xew Plymouth Chamber of Commerce wish to entertain yourself and the Hon. Mr. Fraser at a' banquet on Friday night. Will you please reply your willingness to accept invitation." Mr. Wilkinson, M.P., Ims intimated to Mr. Okey that the suggested nrogramme of the visit is agreeable to him, although the time allowed -for a stop in each place seems rather short.
