WEST COAST CHAMPIONSHIPS. The following is the result of the West Coast swimming championships, which were held at Eltluim on Easter Monday:— 50yds. Maiden.—L. Goss 1, R. Clout "2. Griffiths, O'Donnell and Morrosscy also started. Time, 35 4-ssec.
75yds. Open Handicap.—First heat: F. It. Masters, Gsee., 1; C. M. Kivell, 8' see., 2. Spratt, 3see., also started. Time,. 53 l-aseo. Second heat: H. Kivell, 1; Grant, 2. Whitlaker also started. Time 51 l-ssec. Final: Masters, 1; H. Kivjell, 2. Time, aOsec. '
100 yds. West Coast Championship, breast stroke. —There was only one competitor for this event, Deem, of Hawera. He swam the distance in the excellent time of 81 1-osee. Squires, who won last year at Wangamii in 85sec., did udt reach Elthain until too late to compete. Plunge.—Stohr and Bassett tied with 47ft. 3in.
Tarariaki Schoolboys' Championship.— S. Ewing 1, X. O'Donnell 2. Time, 3ft 4-ssec.
Ladies' Open Handicap, 50yds.—Only one lady, Miss Ilawke, of New Plymouth, took to the water, and she gave a very good exhibition of swimming. 1 i Plate Diving.—Stohr and Spratt eacli recovered 12 plates. Stewart, Bassett, Morrissoy and Clout also competed. West Coast Championship, 440 yds.—A. Mailer, Wangamii, 1. Ckringbold, Hawera, also started, but after leading for eight lengths tired, and was beaten ])y half the length of the baths. 50yds.'Open.—First heat: CV M. Kivell,. Cisec.*, 1: W.
