PUBLIC INVESTIGATION DEMANDED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Saturday. The Amokura inquiry was resumed onThursday evening. Mr. Harp gave evidence, and the inquiry then adjourned till !) o'clock to-day. Campbell, late second officer on the Amokura, makes some complaints -concerning the inquiry. He says he was brought from Auckland to give evidence on tlie understanding that it was a public inquiry. He was not allowed within the building where the proceedings were held until-ealled upon to give evidence, although others were. Finding the inquiry of the department was not public,, and believing a public inquiry must eventually be held, Campbell deciines to submit his evidence at present.
