DRAUGHTS.

NORTH ISLAND CHAMPIONSHIP. The North Island Draughts Tournament, which is being held under the ,aus-> ■pices of the New Plymouth Draughts Club, was continued on Saturday and again yesterday. At the close of last night's session Bruce (New Plymouth) was leading for the championship, with' 18 points, and present indications point to his securing the coveted laurels. The competition, although confined to a comparatively small number of entrants, is being keenly fought out, and the publie are specially invited to watch the concluding stages which will be decided today. Play will be resumed at 2 o'clock this afternoon. POSITION OF PLAYERS. The following is the position of those players who have completed all their games:— , Bell 17% points. Davy 17 points. Phillips, IP/a points. Watson 13 points. Jenkinson 12% points. Rogers 8y 3 points. The remaining competitors are situated as follow;—Bruce, one man toplay, 18 points; Chant, one man to play) 16y 2 ; Gibson, two men to play, 15; Jensen, two men to play 9; Gilbert, twomen to play, 12% McPherson, one man to play 11 j Longstaff, two men to play,. 7%; Waters, two men to play, 6 points. The handicap events will remain in doubt until the conclusion of the tournament, owing to all handicaps being sealed,
