Griffiths and Co. are :in receipt of the following market report from their London principals. Messrs Mills-a-nd Sparrow, dated London, March- 7:—' Butter.—We are pleased to report that we have had a continuance; of the improved conditions mentioned in our last report, and all descriptions of butter are steadily firming up in price. Australian: Unsalted is comparatively scarce and making increased prices, whilst best salted during the week was also firmer. At the close of the ;market values were fully 2s better than those ruling last week. .: ■ \ • Xew Zealand: There has been very little on the spot, as the last'vessel has been well cleared up: consequently the; market is firmer and higher prices are asked on arrival. This description should improve in price during the next few weeks.
Danish: Some of the northern markets who will not buy Australian but strek faithfully to Danish throughout the year will have to pay 2s Od per cwt. more next week, as the Copenhagen quotation has advanced to this extent. Siberian: Quantity will steadily increase, but Germany will doubtless take the bulk of the supplies for the next four or five weeks.
Argentine: There is a good quantitv coming along all the time'and is bein'a sold at prices which are somewhat lower than the colonial descriptions, although the quality' is well reported on all quotations.
Cheese.—lt seems impossible to get the price up. although importers generally are most desirous of rtoinc so, but the quantities coming along seem fairly sufficient fpr the requirements of the'trade, and we are unable to report any improvement in price, although the market is firm and sound.
