ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
A SHOOTING MISHAP. By Telegraph—Press Association. Blenheim, Wednesday. A shooting mishap occurred yesterday. James Xeil was bench loading at Parker's ilaxniill when he was etruck down by a bullet from a pea rifle. The bullet came from across the river, passed through a canvas partition, and struck Neil in the back, near the left shoulder. He is in hospital now, and his state is serious. Later in the day the police arrested two boys, Frederick Xeilson and William Atwood, each about H 5 years of age, on a charge of shooting NeiL They stated that uiey were firing with a pea rifle at a can on a post, and one shot missed the can and struck Neil. On the application of the police a remand for a week was granted. Xeil is aged % years, and has a wife and four children.
RUN OVER BY A DRAY
Auckland, Wednesday. Gladys Church, aged IS months, residing with her parents in Vermont , street, Ponsonby, was run over by a ' dray while at play, and died shortly afterwards. *
