GORDON v. THE TIMES.
VERDICT FOR THE NEWSPAPER. Per Press Association. Napier, March 17. Considerable interest was taken today in the Supreme Court case F. E. A. Gordon v. New Zealand Times, a claim for. £2OOO for alleged libel. Sir Robert Stout (Chief Justice) presided. Mr. Dolan appeared for plaintiff, and Sir John Findlay and Mr. Lusk for the defendant company. Considerable evidence was taken, the case lasting from 10.30 a.m. to 10 p.m. . Gordon was subjected to some severe-cross-examination bv Sir John Findlay. jind the Chief Justice. After tvyentv minutes' deliberation, the jurv returned with a verdict for the defendant company, with costs on the highest scale and for the second counsel's fees.
