COMPENSATION COURT.
A CHRLSTCHURd! CASE. I?v Telegraph —Press Association. Christchurch, Last Xight. Before the Compensation Court the action brought by Lester Matson, on behalf of IT. Matson &' Co..' against the Minister of Railways for £1478 compensation for land taken by the Railway Department at Addington. under the Public Works Act was continued. Mr. Justice Denniston presided, and with him as assessors sat Mr. A. llovle and Mr. W. J. Hopkins. After evidence, the Court, after a retirement, awarded claimant £s.">o compensation, together with interest on that sum from the date of the proclamation. Mr. Justice Denniston. in announcing the Court's decision, said that they had not considered the higher price of Taylor's section bought bv Matson & Co.. except in helping the Court to assess the actual value of the whole of the land, as they felt convinced that Matson & Co. would have purchased Taylor's land in the beginning. No costs were allowed.
