LABOR TROUBLES.
AUSTRALIAN MINERS' STRIKE. By Cable —Press Association—Copyright. Sydney, March 18. The southern colliers are out on strike, and there are indications of a prolonged struggle. The Kembla and probably the Ivelra men will join the strike, to-day. An aggregate meeting of miners is called for Wednesday. Mr. McGowen and other Ministers have been asked to attend. There is much indignation at the news that an application has been made to debar Peter Bowling and other union officials addressing meetings during the present trouble. The delegate board passed a resolution emphatically protesting. and alleging that noin of the officials liad said or done anything to justify such action. THE SYDNEY OAS STRIKE. Sydney, March IS.* As a sequel to the strike of the gas employees, the union, with the assent of the companies, has applied to the Arbitration Court for the cancellation of the present agreements between the parties, with the view, to substituting a wages board. CLAIMS IN MELBOURNE. Melbourne, March IS. Following the lead of Sydney, the gas employees have presented a claim to the Arbitration Court involving better working conditions and higher wages. WHARF LABORERS IDLE. Sydney, March IS. The loading of wheat ships in Darling Harbor has again been blocked by the wharf laborers declining to work with casual hands. THE DARLING WHARF TROUBLE. Received IS. 0.50 p.m. Sydney, March IS. The Darling wharf laborers' trouble lias been settled.
