WAITARA WEST ROAD BOARD.

i MONTHLY MEETING. At the monthly meeting of the above ■ f Board there were present: Messrs .J. Connett (chairman),' Hal], Surrey and Tuvnlmll. Correspondence was read from Mr. R. Tate, stating that he would he unable to undertake any road-grading at present; and from Railway Department, giving the Board permis.-iou to take metal from the Sentry IJill ballast pit. Surfaceman Palmer reported that E. Richards had completed his Cress and Te Arei roads metal contracts, and had commenced the-work of forming a track into the metal pit for the Bertram! road contract. Metal, bad been blinded on Cms- and Kel!v road-, and grass ridges ■ levelled on the'Te Arci road,'. Surfaceman Ciddv reported that Haskell and Co. had ' tini-iicd their Kelly road contract, and also the hill on Richmond road, and were iimv engaged in carting out metal on the YVortley road.' The metal on, Richmond road had been raked in and blinded. The chairman reported that he. had seen Mr. Luxton re repairing the culvert on the Karaka road, and that he would do the work short.lv. The clerk reported that Mr. Dobson . would repair the culvert on the Everett road free of cost to the Board: also that there were rates amounting to £32 outstanding, and it was decided to sue for same. ■ Repairs were authorised on bridges on York and Cms- road-: the hill on Manntahi East road to be ended, and all weed.; on pieces of laud belonging to the. Board to be cut. Surfaceman Palmer is to be requested to report on the ifiiaiititv of metal used ; on Kelly road for patching by Haskell and Co.. as they were informed that half would be used for recoating before they tendered for same. Accounts amounting to £ll2 were passed for payment.
