PARIHAKA ROAD BOARD.
MONTHLY MKETIXG. Tlio ordinary monthly meeting of the Parihaka Road Board was held at Kaliotu on Thursday last. Present: Messrs Young (chairman), Harvey, Holmes and Willcox. FOR KM AX'S RETORT. Foreman ,). P. Kennedy reported:— Upper Arawhata road—Have inspected top portion of road as instructed and find that Messrs Hurtle Bros, have done a considerable amount of repairs to portion mentioned. Altogether there is considerable improvement since they undertook repairs to same.—The Board took over lrom Messrs Bartle Bros, the responsibility of maintenance. The firm still pays royalty on timber carted from the Arawhata road. Kaliui Road—Would the Board grant £.30 for repairs from the old factory to the top of the road'/ There will be a considerable amount of broken metal ■ required to till in wheel ruts.—Expenditure authorised. Upua road—Woidd the Board grant permission to have repairs done each side of Tyiee's and Hemingway's, : this being the 'roughest portion of the road? hill by Mr. Tyiee's wants grading badlv. and the cost would not exceed £4. Material can be got cheaply from Messrs Tyiee's and Hemingway's pits.—The foreman to report and to obtain particulars of assistance offered. Lower Kaliui Road- Bridge by Mr. A. Phillips: Would the Board grunt permission to have the bridge re-decked, as the old decking is now becoming dangerous? All other portions in good repair. It would take about 1000ft,—Matter held over. Warea Koad—l have received an offer to supply boulder stone, to be delivered from the main road to Mrs. Murphy's for Is (id per yard—any quantity. This is an exceptionally good offer, and the road will need some for repairs during the winter months.—Held over. Upper Kina Road—Repairs to this road are still in progress. The road from Mr. Pentelow's to the top has been repaired. There is still a portion at bottom end to be done, about a week's work. Up to date there has been put on the road about (130 loads of gravel, i* 400 loads of ]V„yds and -230 loads of Iyd, J making SSOyds.' j GENERAL. I The meeting authorised the foreman I to report on the unused roads under the > Board's jurisdiction. | The foreman was authorised to report J to state of Lower Kina road. | On Mr. Willcox's application, the (Board granted the use of the Board's I office for the purpose of holding a leaseJ holders' meeting. i Messrs Wan. Looney. Robertson and King forwarded a joint, application, asking for repairs to a bad place at the top end of Ihaia road. —The foreman to 1 report.
