THE PUBLIC WORKS COMMISSION. 'By Telegraph. —Per Press Association. Dunedin, Last Night. I The members of the Public Service Commission will commence work in Dunedin to-day, individually visiting the public offices and inquiring into staffing • salaries, accommodation and other questions. Tliey will probably be engaged here till Thursday, and will then pro■ceed to Oamaru and Timaru before starting their labors in Christchurch. LIQUOR ADVERTISEMENTS. Invereargill, Last Night. Members of the executive of the W.C.T.U. have instituted a campaign against liquor advertisements 011 tram ticlcptij. They threaten to boycott the ' electric trams, and are asking members of temperance organisations to refuse to Uiccept tickets bearing liquor advertise-> ments. The Union is also agitating against Sunday trams and intends to oppose candidates for the Town Council who will not support their views on these matters.

W.C.T.U. Nelson, Last Nigh. The. W.C.T.U. Convention to-day adopted resolutions protesting against packet licenses being issued for coastal "and river steamers; against the transmission of betting mater by the Post and Telegraph services; urging that engine drivers, pilots and signalmen should abstain from intoxicants; expressing sympathy-with the relatives of Captain Scott and his comrades; commending the action of Judge Edwards in ordering offenders against women and children to be flogged; and "urging the amendment, of the law to enable those guilty of criminal assaults, to be similarly dealt with. The Union also -passed a resolution congratulating the Presidents in the American States which have carried manhood |suffr:vge. The Rev. G. Dawson, secretary of the New Zealand Alliance, addressed the Convention on the progress of the prohibition campaign. This t evening the Convention was -addressed by a number of members on good citizenship. THE RED TINE WRECK. ' Dunedin. Last Night. Mr. Wilson, secretary of the Shipwreck Relief Society, lias received the following telegram from Mr. llevenish, Collector of Customs, Nelson:—"Red Pine wrecked on the Durville Island. Crew lost their effects." Mr. Wilson telegraphed the following reply: "Draw on us for £3 per man, crew, Red Pine. Advise if further relief is necessary."
