SWIMMING.
THE CiIILDUKM'S SL'.ORTS. Perfect ■ weather conditions prevailed on Saturday afternoon, when tlie chil(l reii's sports were held at the Municipal liaths. There was a good attendance of adults, ami quite a crowd of children,' many of whom, however, appeared rather shy at entering for the numerous races, which the kindness of .Messrs. Ceo. Tabor -any .Meyner, who generously donated the hulk of the prizes, enabled to be held. Still there were good fields in all events, and there is 110 doubt that the conlidence gained will result in much larger entries at the next sports. The children showed the benelit of the tuition given them by members of the New Plymouth Swimming Club, and appeared to revel "fii the watei'y element. Indeed, the stewards at times h;id dilli-" eulty in getting the bigger boys to vacate the 'baths while the events were run oil'. The performance of many of the youngsters shows great promise, one little tot of live being greatly admired. The ollieials responsible for the successful conduct of the meeting were.: .Messrs.
