LOAN PROPOSALS.

BOTH CARRIED. Polling took place yesterday in connection with the Borough loan proposals m the shape of £55,000 for tramwavs and £42,000 for street improvement and water extensions. Both proposals weie carried by an overwhelming maiorlty, OSo to 187 in the ease of the tramways and 961 to 202 in the case of the other loan. A feature of the poll was the strong vote east for the trams in the suburbs. Polling was fairly brisk throughout the day. and a very failproportion of the ratepayers exercised their franchise. Of a total of 2335 on the roll 1103 recorded their votes. Polling ceased at 7 o'clock, and within a comparatively short time the result was. made public. Detailed results TRAMWAYS.
