BOWLING.
! xkw Plymouth touring team. The members of the New Plymouth touring te;im arrived home by the steamer yesterday. On Monday morning the champion rink of Taranaki (Harrop, Luscombe, 8. Paul, A. Iv. Smart) met Oneluingn, the champion rink oil Auckland, the New Plymouth rink win ning by 27 points to it). The team put up a very creditable record, and one which probably has never been excelled by any other Taranaki team. Nine matches and two single rink matches were played. New Plymouth won 8, drew 1, and lost '2, scoring 035 points to 874. They brought home the champion shield, and defeated the pick of Auckland, The team on paper did not look a formidable combination. Mr.nv, indeed, were "rejects," but when put to the test they' did quite as well as the finest players in the club. The skipping on the whole was excellent, and to this more than anything else, perhaps, is due the extraordinary success achieved.
As a result of the tour, between 150 :aml 200 bowlers from Auckland will visit New Plymouth next season. The hospitality of the Aueklamlers -was unbounded; in fact, it was embarrassing at times. The weather was ideal, and a more enjoyable tour could not have been experienced.
