At a meeting of the committee of the Canterbury branch of the Navv League arrangements for -the entertainment of the men and officers of H.M.S. New Zealand, which is expected here about April 12. wore discussed, and it was decided to wait 011 the Mayor on Wednesday, and place tlicm before him, the idea lying for the League to cooperate wn -Jhe citizens. It is proposed to take tin ion for railway excursions to Little River and Rangiora and entertain them at \ smoke concert in town and hold a b, ; s. public function, either nu the Metrop>'\itan Trotting Club's course or the Show Grounds. It was decided to ask the Government to run special trains to convey the children of North Canterbury to Lyttclton at nominal fares, and to provide sea transport from the Lyttelton wharf to the warship. It is proposed to entertain the officers at a ball.
