EASTER SPORTS.
AT EAST END BEACH. A meeting of the East End Bathing Committee was held last .night to make progress reports in connection with the great sports gathering which is to be held at the East End Res.erve on Easter Monday next. The committee that has charge of the tug-of-war competition reports that this event is exciting the keenest interest, and that there is certain to be a record entry, and some most exciting and exhilarating contests. Already some fourteen teams have signified their intention of competing, and are in active training. Tt is expected that others will be nominated. Those so fur entered are Oil Wells (3), Maoris (2). Electric Light Department, Harbor Board, New Plymouth Carters, Bennett's team. Waitara. Fitzroy Fire Brigade, and East End Commiteee. The prize for the tug-of-war was fixed at £7 7s. Arrangements were made for holding a sheep guessing competition, and a meeting oMadies will be called for Thursday afternoon to make arrangements for the afternoon tea on Easter Monday.
