TIMAHI' WOOL SALE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Timaru, Last Night. At. the fourth and final wool sale today 87:: bales were sold and 21 passed in. The brokers report good competition and generally improved prices, par to a halfpenny, compared with the January sale, UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION. Auckland. Last Night. The annual meeting of the United Press. Association was held to-day, Mr. H. HOrton (chairman) presiding. Thirtytwo members attended, and the annual report and balance-sheet were adopted. The report mentioned that there had been a great increase in the cable service, and stressed the necessity for making further provision on this head. Several spoke in high terms of the calibre of the service, and it, was mentioned that recent visitors, highly qualified to judge, had expressed their admiration at the quality of the news service of the world they found in the newspapers of this distant part of the Empire. Tt was also stated that the service of New Zealand news had been maintained at its usual standard during the year. Close on half a million words of original cable news bad been supplied to papers belonging to the Association. Messrs. Fenwick (Otago Daily Times) and Smith (Dunedin Star) were re-elected directors, and Mr. F. Shaw re-elected auditor. The chairman was complimented on his conduct of business during the year, and a votes of thanks was passed to him.
