VARIOUS PROMOTIONS. Ty Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Xijrlit. .Mr. 11. H. Jackson, locomotive engineer ;it Addington, will succeed Mr. A. L. Beattie in tlie capacity of chief mechanical engineer at Wellington, Mr. Beattie retiring on pension on March 31, after about thirty-six years' service. Mr. Jackson is a native of Auckland, fifty years of age. and joined the railway service in 187<i. He was stationed variously at Petone, YVangamii, Nelson and Newmarket:, and succeeded/Mr. Beattie at Addington in 1000. In continence of this change, other promotions will he made as follows: —Mr. (!. A. Pearson (loco, engineer at I'etone) succeeds Mr. Jackson at Addington; Mr. (!. E. Richardson (loeo. engineer at Newmarket) succeeds Mr. Pearson at Petone; Mr. F. T. Murison (engirieer-in-chief in the Mechanical Engineers' Ollice, Wellington) succeeds Mr. Richardson at Newmarket; Mr. S. P. Evans (workshops manager at Addington) has been promoted to loco, engineer and transferred to Wellington to replace Mr. Murison; Mr. C. T. Bargh (loco, inspector at Thames) becomes workshops manager at Addington); Mr. F. E. Carew (leading fitter at Eastown, K to inspector of loco, instruction at. Thames, in place of Mr. Bargh.
