NEW PLYMOUTH WINS THE QT. By Telegrapli—Own Correspondent. Auckland, Last Night. This afternoon the New Plymouth bowlers retrieved the laurels they lost yesterday by winning the big mate!- of the tour against the Auckland Club, tor . the Auckland-New Plymouth challenge cup, by 85 points to 08. At the luncheon adjournment New Plymouth had a lead of 17, but this was subsequently reduced to 7. Then fortune favored New Plymouth, and they increased the lead to 17 again. There were no exciting incidents, except that as a result of a drive A. K. Smart had &■ seven registered against him. Goldwater, who had a had run against Onehunga yesterday, did. very well, getting home by 11 poins. Scores: — N.P. A. The first presidents and initiators were Messrs. .Tames Carlaw and Abraham Goldwater. Tonight the team were the guests .of the Auckland bowlers at a smoke concert, where the cup was formallythaiuled over to the New Plymouth team. To-morrow morning, New Plvmoul.li will meet the Dominion Road Clnb. and in the afternoon Rockv Nook. In the Onehunga match yesterday the scores .were: —New Plymouth 77, Auckland 107. Against Epsom the scaring was:— TT. Smart 21. v. Penrmen 21. Paul 20. v. Fookes (president of the Epsom Club) in. A. K. Smart 21. v. Wntkins in. S. Rundle 21, v. Tanner 15. Goldwater 14, v. Pinson 18. Mildenhall (Opunake) 14, v. Craig (Epsom) 22. Totals: New Plymouth 111, Epsom 111. The Opunake Rotorua touring rink also joined in the match, their score being 14 against Craig (Epsom) 22. All scores were counted in the match, the totals thus being equal, 111 each.
