NEW PLYMOUTH.
ADVERTISING THE DISTRICT. (From Our Own Correspondent). Auckland, Last Night. A strong effort is being made to'make New Plymouth the rendezvous for the next Press Conference. There are three conferences, viz., the Newspaper Proprietors of New Zealand, the Press Association and the Master Printers. |.f the move is successful, it will mean a big thing for New Plymouth. An effort is being made by representatives of the Tourist and' Expansion League, visiting here to have the NewPlymouth district included in the itinerary in connection with the Auckland Exhibition opening here in December. If the efforts are success?--], as they hid fair to be. New Plymouth should lie visited by large numbers of outsiders. Those who have recent!)' done the New Plymouth trip are loud in their praises of what they had seen, and the enjoy-, able time they have experienced. "Id/ should be only a matter of time.'' stated one leading citizen, whom T saw to-day, and who had just returned from a trip to New Plymouth and the .Mountain, "when all the people requiring the tonic that the air of a high elevation affords will be directed (o the Mfc. Egmont Hostelry, instead of to the Southern Alps and Lakes, and there are hundreds of' wealthy Aucklatulers who require and look for that tonic every season." New Plymouth has a good chance,, but wo must all be up ami doing in order to embrace it.
