A poll of ratepayers in Christchurch was taken to-day on the City Council's proposal to raise C120,()l)(> in connection with the Lake Coleridge electric light and power scheme. Of the approximate total number on the roll, about 25 per ernt. recorded their votes. The result of the poll was: For the proposal. 2874 votes; against 1 , 4(12. The Mayor congratulated the ratepayers on the magnificent support given to the proposal, and he and other speakers expressed the hope that the day would be an epoch-marking one in the progress of the citv.
