HOME RULE QUESTION. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. London, February 16. Mr. Birrell, speaking at Warrington, said that the debate in the House of Lord* showed that the idea of Home Rule had dawned on their lordships' minds. The Government would proceed with the Home Rule Bill. They would not shoot Ulstermen, but at all costs would protect the Roman Catholics in Ulster from violence. Whatever steps were taken to protect them would receive British support. IRISH BY-ELECTION. London. February 16. MaTtin Murphy was returned unopposed for East Waterford. NAVAL PRIZE BILL. London. February 16. The Naval Prize Bill will be reintroduced early next session.
