PROTEST AGAINST IMMIGRATION.

Two hundred unemployed formed a deputation to Mr. McGoweu. alleging that 4000 were out of work in Sydney.

Mr. MyGowen is obtaining a report. One deputationist to the Labor Council declared that there were >SOOO unemployed. Another only vouched for 30fl. A member of the council caused laughter by remarking that the leader of the deputation had been associated with the unemployed movement for manv years. The council is enquiring into the statements.

A meeting of fiOO unemployed condemned the Victorian Oloveninient encouraging immigration. and alleged that there were nearly 3000 men nut of work. The Labor Council is holding a public meeting to protest airain-t immigration, and asking Mr. Fisher to inform Sir George Reid of the conditions and to publish the information in England.
