IN PARLIAMENT.

SYMPATHY IN THE HOUSE OF COMMONS. READY RESPONSE TO CAPTAIN SCOTT'S APPEAL. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. London, February 11. Replying to a question by Mr. Austin Chamberlain, the Premier said they were all deeply impressed by the Antarctic disaster. The last message was one of the most moving and pathetic utterances in the annals of discovery. The message was from a brave and enduring man face to face with a tragic end of a career of self-sacrifice and devotion to his country's service, The appeal would not fall on deaf ears. The Premier spoke with emotion, ami was almost inaudible. The House was much moved.

Lord Emmott, replying to Lord Lamington, said the disaster was almost unparalleled in Antarctic exploration. The country could ill afford to lose men so faithful in the discharge of their duties. It would be a splendid example and inspiration to Englishmen for all time.
