FARMERS' CO-OPERATIVE.
! - J MEETIXC! AT INGLEWOOD. (From a Correspondent). Mr. Geo. H. Buckeridge. the organiser of the proposed Fanners' Co-operative Organisation Society, met the suppliers from the various factories in the neighborhood of Inglewood at the Public Hall at Inglewood on Saturday afternoon, when there were about SO present, most of the factories being well represented. Mr. Jones, chairman of directors of the ) Moa Farmers' Co-operative Dairy Co., was voted to the chair, and briefly introduced the speaker. Mr. Buckeridge dealt very fully with the aims and objects of the proposed society, and showed very forcibly the reasons for the formation of such a society in this district. lie bi'ieky sketched the history of co-operative enterprise in the United Kingdom, and on the Continent, and then in New Zealand, dealing with the failures and then with the splendid successes, and appealed to those present to assist him and those working j with him to make this the big success it I should bv.
During his address, which lusted ahoufc an hour and a-half, Mr. Buckeridge was listened to with the utmost attention, his remarks being frequently applauded, ami at the close lie answered numerous questions.
Tt was liiiawiniou.-ly decided. "That this meeting of farmers thoroughly approve of the proposed Farmers' Co-oper-ative Organisation Society as outlined by Mr. Buckeridge on behalf of the committee," and the following gentlemen were elected delegates lo attend the general meeting of delegates to be held at TTawcra:---Messrs. Jones (chairman .\loa Farmers' Co:). .'I. Brown (chairman Maketawa Co.). Todd, •'). B. Simpson (Maketava). .1. P. Stachurski (Ratapiko) ami J. 0. Taylor (W'aiongona). On the motion of Mr. Todd, seconded by Mr. Dobson. a hearty vote of thanks was unanimously accorded Mr. Buckeridge for his very able address. llr. Buckeridge. in acknowledging, said the best way they could show' their thanks was to give (heir whole-hearted support to get the Societv eoitig as -non as possible.
