The conference of the Lancashire cotton trade referred to the law courts all claims for compensation for injuries, including disputes in which compensation had been withheld. All the other outstanding disputes were settled. THE SYDNEY CONFERENCE. A FIGHTING PLATFORM. Sydney, February 10. The Labor Conference adopted the following fighting platform:— The abolition of the Legislative Council. The abolition of the office of State Governor. Full citizen rights fur women. Effective land settlement, including the cessation of the sale of Crown land and the taxation of land values. The nationalisation of health, including free medical and surgical nursing services. State maintenance of hospitals. special care of maternity cases, and the protection of child life. E(|iiitable industrial laws. Complete and free educational facilities. At the reassembling of the conference between the Newcastle coal-owners and Miner*' Federation to discuss whether a joint committee nr some similar tribunal should be formed to deal with mining disputes, the owners announced that they are not prepared to proceed with business till tliev knew what the Government intends doing. The conference .idjuurned till Wednesday.
