A regrettable incident occurred at the Lord Mayor's reception to the Japanese Admiral and officers. While the Japanese national anthem was being played on the Town Hall organ, «• cltonts from the opera "Mikado," which is most objectionable to Japanese, slipped in accidentally in the form of a inarch between the two anthem movements. It was evident that the Admiral was displeased. The Lord Mayor is writing regretting the unintentional affront.
