TATiANfAKT JOCKEY CLUIX Already visitors are arriving in force in readiness for the Taranaki Jockey Club's Cup meeting, wk-h opens on Wednesday, and there is every prospect of it being an exceptionally successful one. Most of the visiting horses engaged have now arrived, the Auckland continent putting in an appearance, on Saturday. Yesterday quite a number of the horses engaged at the meeting were exercising on the beach at "Moturoa. where they were given half to medium ,pace working gallops. Among 'those exercised on the beach were Undecided (the Egmont Cup winner). Red Lupin and Overtime. This morning will see the winding-up gallops on the track proper, and on the beach. The fields in all the events promise to be exceptionally large.

At the Canterbury Park (N.S.W.) meeting on Saturday, the Flying Handicap was won by Wcbimble. Asliby (New Zealand) being second and Sabrino third. Six horses started, and Webimble won by a head only. Time, lmin 15scc.

At a meeting of the Committee of the Stratford Racing Club, the secretary laid before the Committee a statement of the "race meeting account" for the recent New dear's meeting. After payment of all charges, including the Government tax of £,">7l !)s, a nett profit of C 1037 i'>s lid was realised. This was considered to bp eminently satisfactory, being practically tile same as last vcar's profit. but with the difference that the slakes paid at the recent meeting were some £3OO more than for the previous year. The committee was unanimously of opinion that a large proportion' of the profit should be devoted to improving the Club's property and giving additional facilities to the puble ti the dreeton of greater general con renb nee for all patrons.—Post.
