AUCKLAND EXHIBITION.
ELABORATE SPORTING PROPOSALS. Per Press Association. Auckland, Saturday. The proposal to hold a great aquatic carnival in Auckland in connection with the exhibition, extending over three days and concluding on Anniversary Day, Janaury 2!) next, linds general support among leading sportsmen. Suggested features are an inter-colonial yacht race, a race for trading vessels, a motor boat race on a scale to induce competitions from the south and Australia, and a championship rowin<r regatta. ° The Auckland Pacing Club is expected to do something handsome for a meeting about exhibition time. It is understood' a proposal will be made to increase the prize money to exceed anything yet given in the Dominion, including the Auckland Cup of £4OOO, awl an Exhibition Cup. which will induce competition from the best horses in Australasia.
The Auckland Trotting Club has already announced its intention of giving a £SOO trotting cup, and other racing clubs are expected to follow suit.
