■[.TiENUI. v. NEW PLYMOUTH. Tlio Urcimi-New Plymouth match, played on the Sports. Grounds, resulted in an exciting finish. Urenui batted first, and compiled 67 runs, only two of the team, Sarten and Blundell, running into double figures. New Plymouth started off disastrously, five wickets falling for 16 runs. Colvile went in at the fall of the fifth wicket, and steadied things up, and Whittle and Weston, who were next on the list, also made good strokes. The fall of ttie seventh wicket, however, still saw them with 24 runs to get. They pulled up well on the eighth wicket* which fell at 63, and the ninth saw them pass Urenui's total. Foreman, one for 22. HIGH SCHOOL v. WAITARA. Playing at New Plymouth, High School defeated Waitara by seven runs on the first innings. -The visitors batted first to the tune of 60 runs, their wickets being secured hy Ryder, Colson and Monteath. School replied with 67 runs, Colson 18, Ward 17, and Ryder 7, being hidiest scorers. Waitara had a second innings, which netted them 42 runs, and when stumps were drawn School had four wickets down for 20 odd. The following will represent United Service in their match with Law on the Sports Grounds to-morrow (Saturday) afternoon):— Dinniss. Bain. Maekay, Stewart, Rev. Colvile. Ingram, Simpson. Perham, Sumner, Hooker and Osborne. New Plymouth have a bye to-morrow, and so High School have kindly con- ! sen ted to fill the breach and engage in : a friendlv contest.
