Fryer was first on liie scene, and sent Handsome Maid and l\..rk Title half a mile, the first-named fin wiring ,n front. Allure beat Cairnbrogie and Lercola 4 over half a mile. Master Malachi ran three furlongs on the outside of the course proper. Goldsize galloped half a mile alone on the inside grass. Brown Owl went seven furlongs on the outside of the course proper. ' Dearest, with Deeley in the saddle, sprinted half a mile on the plough. Astor sprinted a couple of furlongs on thi' inside grass. lfeatheiirae had a little to the good from Masterpiece at the end of six furlongs on the outside. Patriotic went six furlongs alone. Minora beat Retrieve by three-quar-ters of a length in four furlongs on the inside grass. Elkmaid sprinted half a mile on the outside. Cheddar finished in front of Undecided and Sea Queen in that order at the end of a mile on the outside. Patronata alone went half a mile on ' the inside grass. Opeke beat Lady MenschikolT by a couple of lengths over a si* furlong journey. Peroneal did pace work, and ran home the last b'*. as did also Labor Day. Sylvia A'aid alone ran four furlongs or the out ide. BobrikoM' was restricted to pace work. Timothy did a round over the schooling fences. Patronvmic. Sty rax . o rattan, Bay Prince. Prow, Mendip. ,Sam Pan, Sardis. Charmiivde and a number of others did pace work. Some of flic probable starters in the Egmont Cup and their riders are fts follows:—Labor Day 8.10 (F. D. Jones), Undecided B.G (A.'Olliver). Mira 7.12 (R. Berry), Cheddar 7.8 (L. Wilson), Manawnkaha 7.8 (F. -Holmes), Patriotic 7.1, (0. McCarten), Brown Owl 7.0 (C. Emmerson). Con the Sliaughraun ti.l3 (W. Bell). The other acceptors are: Master Laddo 7.7. Kina 7.3, Matlow 0.11, Brown Trout 0.9. Royal Dragoon 0.7, Master Tupuhui fi.7. and Lady Menschikoff 7.1. The last-named will probably start in the Hawera Stakes and not in the Cup,
A Rvdney cablegram states that the New Zealander Royal Scotch is doing useful work at Rand wick, and is looking remarkably well. Royal Scotch and Ventura have been scratched for the Newmarket Handicap, and Ventura for the Oakleigh Plate.
