He tilisted that if ever they were called on lo perform the duty for which the vessel was built the crew would maintain the honor placed in their hands. Mr. dames Allen said New Zealand would cheerfully give further help, and mi ant to see the Pacific safe. He hoped other countries there would combine to make it so. New Zealand would not be satistied until she was able to provide men as well as money and ships. ►Sir R. Solomon, High Commissioner for South Africa, congratulated NewZealand on its practical loyalty. The visit of the vessel to Table Bay would help the growing feeling of South Africans towards co-operation. A silver cup for boat crew competitions and a portrait of Mr. Seddon were presented on behalf of Mrs. Seddon.
ITS COST PER HEAD. Received 5. 12.45 a.m. London, February 4. The Telegraph says that the New Zealand represents a cash contribution of 4<ts a head for every New Zvalander. In fact, it is an example and ail inspiration to tlie people of every nation under the flag.
