Xo charge was preferred against him, and bail and legal advice were refused. The' Consul-General lias intervened. POSSIBLE CAUSE OK THE TROUBLE. London, January 20. Wheeler, who was arrested at Yokohama, without a charge heing preferred against him, represented Gen/.. Wheeler and Co., who obtained so many orders for knitting machines that deliveries v.ere behind-hand. The firm believes that this fact was the cause of the trouble, and opine that the authorities are guilty of high-handed procedure.
