The opponents of the wool schedule point out that the country is actually taxed H-i !)d per head of the population yearly to maintain the wool industry in its present state of prosperity. The piesent combined ad valorem and specilic duties are equal, according to Democratic contentions, to 12S per cent. This is a wholly unnecessary figure. The Democrats hope to reduce the tariff approximately to a revenue percentage oi Iv.
