Mrs. Drummond, who refused to pay l'.er fine, on being sentenced to a fortnight's imprisonment in the second division, exclaimed: "For shame! You mean the first division. There will be a hunger strike." Several others received similar sentences. GENERAL WINDOW-BREAKING. London, January 29. Suffragettes smashed windows in Regent and Oxford streets, Charing Cross and other centres. Three female and one male suffragette supporting Mrs. Despard were sentenced to fourteen days' imprisonment. SPEEDY RETRIBUTION. London, January 29. Grace Bunbridge was endeavoring to place phosphorous in a letter-bos when the phosphorous dropped on her arm. burning her. Mis Bunbridge was medically treated and remanded.
MRS. DESPARD RELEASED. London, January 29. . A suffragette smashed another window, valued at £l5O, in the HamburgAmerika Company's office. An unknown person having paid her fine. Mrs. Despard has been released. ATTACKING THE PREMIER. Received 30, 9.50 p.m. London, January 30. Several suffragettes attempted to enter the hall at Levin where the Premier was speaking. One was arrested for throwing pepper in a constable's face. 'THE MOVEMENT IN AMERICA. Received 30, 0.50 p.m. New York, January 30. The suffragettes are planning a walk to Washington with a message to the White demanding votes. SUFFRAGETTE OUTRAGES. Received 30. 10.20 a.m. London, January 30. Two hundred packets were damaged ir, the Vere Street Post Office. A | packet addressed to Mr. Lloyd George burst into flames when exposed to the air. Pillar-box outrages have occurred in manv districts.
A suffragette lias been arrested for breaking the Colonial Office window. Four letter-boxes at York contained letters to Mr. Asquith. in which there were glass tubes of liquid which ignited on exposure to the air.
