Arnst lias deposited £IOO with the Sun newspaper, and has challenged Barry to row this year for the championship of the world and £SOO aside. He claims that Pcarce's challenge has lapsed, owinjr to his not having signed articles within three .months after lodging a deposit. Pearce, also, has not renewed his challenge after the expiration of the three months. Arnst, therefore, demands the first race with Barry. Arnst is willing to meet Pearce for £SOO or less aside in twelve weeks. Pearce could meet Barry in Ocwber, or let Arnst go if he wins.
