THEATRE ROYAL PICTURES. . Weather permitting the Royal Pictures will be showing at the East End Jieack to-night with a specially selected programme of moving' pictures. By special request the management will show the film of ''The East End Beach Picnic" and "The Recreation Grounds." Many local residents have not had an opportunity to view these pictures, and to-night will give them an idea of the excellent advertisement New Plymouth will get from the moving pictures of local surroundings. In the event of the weather not being favourable, the Royal Pictures will show in the Theatre Royal as usual with a complete change of programme.
"ROBIN HOOD, OUTLAWED." Novelty succeeds novelty, and attraction succeeds attraction at the Empire Theatre with each change of programme. • Last night's new series was witnessed by a large audience who manifested deep interest in a legendary picture, "Robin Hood, Outlawed." No story of medieval - England has found more favourites than that of the bold and dauntless Robert, Earl of Huntingdom, and his merry men r and ample juistice is done to the legend in the production under review. It con» tains all the exploits attributed to this guy adventurer, and is, indeed, remark-, ably faithful in detail to the written , version of his life. The setting is excellent, the costuming superb, and the acting leaves nothing to be desired, in short, it is a fine, rollicking tale quite after the average, theatre-goer's heart. Sensation- figures largely in a Kalem ( film, "The Prisoner of the Harem," which is a thrilling story of a young American girl's ladiventures in Bfypt. She is abducted and rescued by a young p-sn-of-warsnian. 'A Dangerous Lesson," is an Edison feature being a homely picture of young married life and its trials and troubles. Much interest also surrounded the screening of a,, beautiful flower study, entitled "Poppies," while an interesting travel film depicting scenes in Scutari, and a comprehensive view of the "International Motor Boat Race," were also screened. The quartette • 1 of comedy subjects were as amiising as ever.
