INGLEWOOD NEWS.
(I'rom our Travelling Reporter). A troop of mounted rifles is being . formed in Ingle wood, and transfers of . men from the infantry are being facili- , tatcd. Twenty-live men are required j to form a troop. It is rather reinark- , able that there has not been a mounted f troop organised before, for in the old day s there was a very live squadron of > the Hawera Mounteds' in Inglewood, and - from their ranks graduated Colonel , Davies, Boer war officer, and now a. bigwig brigadier in the Imperial Army. VARIOUS MOVEMENTS. A meeting is to be held here shortly to form a swimming club. The meeting of fanners of this district i to discuss the Taranaki co-operative store scheme is to be held here about the Bth prox. We arc becoming much interested in Mr. L. de Uunay's clever and sensible invention to render railway crossings less dangerous. "Lou" is a popular citizen, and we all wish him every success—and a fortune.
