Mr. Samuel, in the House of Commons. said the (lovernmenl would give immediate effect to the recommendations of the Marconi Committee. It ■would purchase sites and appoint committees of experts to report on the existing system. PROPOSED NEW REGULATIONS. Wellington. Friday. The Minister of Marine has notified the manager of the Union Shipping Company that there will shortly be put into operation in New Zealand regulations making it compulsory for passenger ships to carry wireless apparatus. The ■Minister suggested the advisability of placing the apparatus on the Wahine before she leaves Home. The .Maori also will require to be equipped. He is satisfied. as the result of travelling during the holiday season, that no adequate provision of life-saving appliances is made on the coastal boats for the number of passengers being carried.
