SURF BATHING.
A LIFE HAVING CU B FOUMED. At a very enthusiastic meeting of surfbathers lunt Jiiylit, it was unanimously decided to form a surf and life-bathing elub. Mr. W. T. .Jennings was voted to the chair, and an election of officers resulted as follows:—Patron, the Mayor (Mr. (!. W. Browne); president, Mr. W. T. .Jennings; vice-presidents, Messrs. Weston, Mebiarmid, Johnstone, Whittle, White. Tabor, the Hon. 0. Samuel, and Mr. 11. Okev. M.P.; captain. Mr. W. Lints; vice-captain. Mr. MacPhcrson; lion, secretary and treasurer. Mr. \\. H. Fletcher; hull, instructor, Mr. Jago; hon. medical officers. l)rs. Fookes and Suttie; committee, Messrs. P. Flanagan. S. Smith, (!. Griffiths. Ainsworth, A. R. Standisli. C. Tabor, F. Whittle. The subscription was fixed at 2s fid for men and Is for ladies and school boys, and the committee was instructed to draw up rules for the guidance of the club. Donations of 10s each were received from Messrs. Jennings and McDiarmid, and a number enrolled as members. The Club will be known as the New Plymouth Surf and l.ife-.Saving Club.
