The oilieer shot himself dead, and the seaman committed suicide by hanging. A BIG MONOPOLY. London, January 14. Lever Bros, have concluded an agreement with Liberia, empowering the lease of 12,000 square miles, amounting to over a quarter of Liberia. The agreement provides monopolies over oil palms, the right to use land in any form, and a monopoly over all trade with the natives. A LONG TOW. London, January 14. The Snowden Range was towed to Queens town. She was fifty days out from Philadelphia, and had her rudder and all her boats smashed in last month's gale. VESSEL AND CREW LOST. London, January 14. The steamer Hawkwood has been wrecked at Flamborongh Head. The entire crew of seventeen were drowned. DYERS' WAGES BOARD. London, January 14. The strike oi the Yorkshire dyers outside the Bradford Association ended in an advance of wages and an overtime concession being granted. LONDON DIAMOND ROBBERY. London, January 14. Stanley, the taxi-cab driver who drove the men concerned in the London diamond robbery in December, has been sentenced to eighteen months' imprisonment. BUSH FIRES. Sydney, January 15. The hot weather has produced bush fires at Morunga, Bodalla and Penrith, and much fencing has been destroyed.
