SWIMMING CARNIVAL.
NEW PLYMOUTH CLUB. The New Plymouth Swimming Club has every reason to be gratified with the success attending its carnival, which was held last night, the Municipal Baths being illuminated with electricity for the purpose. The attendance was just about a record, the baths being crowded with spectators. Most of the events drew a large number of contestants, some of whom came from as far south as Tariki. Inglewood returned the compliment paid to them by the New Plymouth Club last week, and although it does not possess a club, sent a hefty crew of four into the water. Practically all the events provided clo3e finishes, and, thanks to the energetic starter (Mr. W. Lints), the races were got off well up to time. The secretary (Mr. G. Tabor) and his committee are deserving of every praise for the completeness of the arrangements. The Taranaki Garrison Band was in attendance, and gave its services free of charge. Results:— 33yds.
