The Minister of Works has promised a Chamber of Commerce deputation to recommend the Cabinet to protect shippers wishing for an unfettered shipping agreement. General Hert/og's speech is regarded as widening the breach with General Botha. The latter's followers bitterly resent the attack, but General Botha is repressing any demonstration in his favor, and has insisted on silence until Parliament meets.
