TOE WANCANUI DROWNING FATALITY. . By Telegraph—Press Association. Wanganui, Last Night. An inquest was held to-day into the circumstances surrounding the death of J. 'W. Dingle, a seaman on the scow Maroro. A verdict was returned that deceased was drowned through falling between the vessel and the wharf, while under the influence of liquor. THE LAUNCH FATALITY'. Wellington, Monday. The police received advice yesterday that the body of Alexander McKenzie, one of those aboard the launch which left Aohanga on January 1 and which has not since been heard of, had been found at the mouth of the Aohanga river. TWO MINERS KILLED. Thames, Monday. A fatality occurred at the New Sylvia mine at Tararu on Saturday. A tall of earth took place in one of the stopes, crushing Joseph Senior and David Christie. The latter was buried .beneath ton s of dirt, and when the body was: recovered life was extinct. The body was knocked about, and was found close to, the face. The body of Senior has also' been recovered. Later. The men killed at the New Sylvia mine were both working in stopes. "The : last time they were "seen alive was at ' crib time. When knock-off time came they did not respond to the call. The shift 'boss found the stope carried away. A MAN MISSING. Grey mouth, Monday. There is no trace of John McGcady, aged about 35, who came to town from near Reef ton on Christmas Eve. _____ DEATH IN A BATH. Hastings, Monday. Yesterday morning Mary Boosey Yool, a single woman, aged 52, was found dead in the bath at Flynn's Hotel, at which she was a boarder. Deceased was seen entering the bathroom about 0 a.m., and shortly after 11 a.m. an employee at the hotel found the door still locked. The licensee was informed and the door forced open, when the body was found lying in the bath, which was three parts full of water. Life was extinct. Deceased, who was a native of Scotland, arrived from Wellington a few days ago to take up a situation. Hastings, Last Night,. At the inquest the medical evidence showed that deceased was suffering from gastric catarrh and fatty degeneration' of the heart, to which death was attributed.
