THE XORTHERX TOURNAMENT. \ THE FINAL. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Last Nignt. The weather was perfect to-day, when the Northern Bowling Association's champion rtnk competition was concluded on the Auckland green. The teams left in the final were: Auckland (Ryrie, Thornes, Black and Osmond), Wellington (Kinvig, Leslie, Porteous and Bell), Pa<merston North (Jollie, Dickson, Pickering and Nash). Bell and Osmond played the first game, and after a very close contest Bell won by 21 to 20. Honors were easy on the 21st head, but on an additional head being played Bell scored one and won the game. Bell had no difficulty in beating Nash in the final, the scores being 24 to 23 in his favor.
In the play-off for second place Osmond beat Nash by 25 to 22. The final of the consolation match is to be played to-morrow between Ballantyne (Wellington) and Walker (Ponsonby). In the final of the try match' the teams remaining in are: Power (Te Kuiti), Casey (Grey Lynn), and .Nash (Palnierston. North).
TARANAKI TOURNAMENT. SPLENDID ENTRIES. Entries closed last night for the Tara-' naki Tournament which is to be held at New Plymouth on January 28, 29, and 30, and the response is most gratifying, the whole of the affiliated clubs having nominated teams. In all, 36 rinks have been entered, being distributer as follow:—New Plymouth Club 5, West End 4, Fitzroy 4, Waitara 4, Inglewood 4. Opunake 3.'Hawera 3, Patea 2, Stratford 2, Wavcrley 2, Eltham 1, Manaia 1, Pihama 1.
